Did the Prophets John (Yahya) or Elijah (Ilyas), peace be upon them, reach the degree of perfection like Jesus, peace be upon him, who did not commit mistakes or sins? And what is the meaning of His saying, the Almighty: "And peace be upon him the day he was born" which was said concerning Jesus?

The prophets, peace be upon them, are the elite of humanity and the most perfect among them. Allah chose them for His messages. Some of them were favored over others, and the best of them are the five Prophets of Strong Will, and our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is the best.

John (Yahya), peace be upon him, is infallible from sins and did not commit any transgression. This is indicated by texts from the Qur'an and Sunnah, such as Allah's saying: (and purification) [19:13], and the Prophet's, peace be upon him, saying: "There is no one among the children of Adam but has erred or intended to err, except Yahya ibn Zakariyya."

As for Jesus, peace be upon him, no sin was mentioned concerning him during the intercession, which suggests either that he had no sin or that Allah had forgiven him.

Allah's saying: (And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive) [19:15] means security for him at these times when the soul is at its weakest. And Allah's peace upon John is greater than Jesus' peace upon himself, because John's peace was directly from Allah.

Elijah (Ilyas), peace be upon him, is a prophet from the Children of Israel, and Allah narrated his story to us in the Qur'an.
