Does Imam Ibn Hazm not consider a divorce to take effect unless it is by explicit wording, such as the words "talaq" (divorce), "saraḥ" (release), and "firaq" (separation), and not by other than these?

Ibn Hazm holds that divorce occurs only with specific explicit الفاظ, namely: al-talaq (definition) (divorce), al-sarah (release), and al-firaq (separation). Any word other than these does not effect divorce, whether or not one intended divorce by it. This view contradicts what the majority of scholars hold, as they believe that a word that could mean divorce or something else, if intended as divorce, then it is divorce. This is by agreement of the Salaf and the majority of the Khalaf. The correct view is that divorce occurs with an explicit word and with an allusive word accompanied by intention.
