The answer

A husband is advised to treat his family kindly and to overlook what is disliked, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best of you is the best to his family," and "Treat women kindly." And from Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes a certain characteristic in her, he will be pleased with another," meaning, he should not detest her. As for the husband's saying to his wife, "Pack your belongings and return to your father's house," or similar phrases, these are allusive expressions of divorce (Kinayat al-), and their ruling depends on the husband's intention; if he intended divorce, then it occurs, otherwise, it does not.
