The answer

If you pronounced a divorce () while in a state of extreme anger that overwhelmed your mind and you were unaware of what you were saying, then your divorce does not take effect. However, if you were aware of what you were saying, then the divorce is valid. Your statement to your wife, "You want a divorce so you can learn a lesson," does not constitute a divorce; rather, it is your statement, "You are divorced," that constitutes it. If this was the third pronouncement of divorce, then your wife has become irrevocably separated from you (baynunah kubra), and there is no way to take her back unless she marries someone else. However, if it was the first or second pronouncement of divorce, then you have the right to take your wife back (ruju') before her waiting period () expires, either verbally or by action.
