Is it permissible to repeatedly forgive a wife who commits adultery? Is such a woman fit for marriage again? Is there hope for life after trust has been lost, knowing that the law grants her custody of the daughters in case of divorce?

Adultery committed by a wife is among the most heinous major sins due to its corruption of the marital bed and the dishonor it brings upon the husband. Islam has forbidden marriage to an adulteress until she repents and her waiting period ('iddah (definition)) ends. A man retaining his adulterous wife without her repentance is considered cuckoldry (dayāthah). It has been reported from the Prophet, peace be upon him, that a cuckold will not enter Paradise. The believer is protective of his honor, and Allah is protective. Forgiving an adulterous wife differs from the praiseworthy pardon; pardon is not commendable if it involves violating the limits set by Allah or accepting corruption. Chivalry (murū'ah) and protective jealousy (ghīrah) necessitate not retaining an adulterous wife if she does not repent; rather, separation from her is obligatory. As for the children, the father must strive to protect them from this corrupt environment.
