Is the wife considered to be in a tribulation, like her husband, even though she was laughing and happy immediately after the divorce?
It is forbidden for a woman to seek divorce without a legitimate religious reason. If the husband is able to provide necessities and essentials, not luxuries and entertainment, then it is not permissible for her to seek divorce. However, if the husband is unable to provide necessities and essentials, then the woman has the right to seek divorce. Indeed, financial hardship and separation from one's wife are trials. Allah Almighty says: "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided." (Quran 2:155-157). Trials are to be faced with patience and seeking reward from Allah, and tribulation purifies sins and tests faith.
