Is there a contradiction between the permissibility of temporary marriage (mut'ah) in His, the Almighty's, saying: "So for a temporary enjoyment you have had from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation," and its prohibition in the noble Hadith: "Indeed, Allah has forbidden the sale of domestic wine and has forbidden temporary marriage with women"?

Temporary marriage (Nikah (definition) al-Mut'ah) was permissible at the beginning of Islam, then it was prohibited by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) forbidding it. The noble verse mentioned does not refer to temporary marriage but to a valid marriage, and "enjoyment" therein means sexual intercourse, while "wage" refers to the dowry. Even if it were assumed to refer to temporary marriage, it has been abrogated by the verses of inheritance and by Allah's Almighty saying: "And those who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed."
