Is it permissible to offer expiation for preventing one's sister from fasting for medical reasons in the form of "Ramadan bags"?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If a person's illness is incurable and fasting becomes difficult for them, they are permitted to switch from fasting to feeding, so they should feed one needy person for each day, providing a mudd of food (approximately 750 grams). It is permissible to give this to the needy person in any way. However, if bags are given as gifts and do not contain the specified amount of food, they are not sufficient.
