What is the ruling on circulating messages such as, "Every TV series that will be broadcast in Ramadan will be re-aired after Ramadan, except for Tarawih, Qiyam al-Layl, and Laylat al-Qadr; mercy, forgiveness, and liberation from hellfire are only in Ramadan"? Do such messages encourage watching forbidden things after Ramadan? Is it permissible to say, "When Ramadan ends, do whatever you want" when advising someone during Ramadan?
We understand from the phrase that it encourages seizing the time of for lawful worship during it, and reminds of the virtues of this month and what Allah has prepared for those who are successful: mercy, forgiveness, and emancipation from the Fire. It also warns against wasting it by watching TV series, which would cause one to miss out on these virtues. This is an invitation and a reminder for those who fear wasting their time, and there is no harm in reminding of it. As for the saying "when Ramadan ends, do whatever you want," it is better to avoid it. Nevertheless, its intention is to minimize the forbidden, not to invite to it. It is better to use da'wah (preaching) phrases that are free from corrupt possibilities and are mixed with legitimate religious proofs.
