What is the ruling on teaching Muslim women to recite the Qur’an on the radio (women’s program), and is the voice of a woman considered 'awrah, bearing in mind that those who recite the Qur’an are elderly, except for their teacher who is 35 years old?
The voice of a woman is not considered 'awrah' (private and unlawful to expose) according to the soundest opinion among scholars. It is permissible to listen to it as long as there is no 'khudu' bil-qawl' (softening of the voice in a seductive manner) or if it does not lead to 'fitna' (temptation/disorder).
