Do crochet dolls that deviate from the original shape of humans and animals, or dolls of cartoon characters that do not conform to reality, or fruits and vegetables with simple features, fall under the ruling of taswir (making images/figures), and is it permissible to sell them for decoration?

It is permissible for a follower (muqallid) to adopt the opinion of an accredited scholar who issues a fatwa (definition) to him, so long as he does not intend to follow his whims. If he receives differing fatwas, he should follow the one he deems more reliable, or the easier of the two opinions. Among the images for which permission is granted are: those with a physical defect that makes life impossible, or those whose features are indistinct, or the drawing of parts of a living creature, such as eyes and arms, on a circle or fruit, and similar objects. As for the image being of a character that appeared in a film containing violations, this has no bearing on the ruling concerning the image itself. However, care should be taken not to promote what is forbidden to watch.
