It is not permissible for a Qur'anic healer to perform (exorcism/healing) with numbers or other things whose meanings are not understood, nor to give them to the patient. The permissible ruqyah is performed with the names of Allah Almighty and His Book, and with words whose meaning is understood and which contain no polytheism, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no harm in ruqyah as long as it does not contain polytheism." Similarly, it is not permissible to use jinn in treatment.
