Is a wife entitled to seek divorce due to her husband's neglect and preoccupation with video games and his mobile phone, and his failure to assist with household matters and raising the children, especially given her feeling of emotional and psychological estrangement? And would she be sinful for delaying a second pregnancy under these circumstances, despite her husband's desire for more children?

The Sharia (definition) commanded husbands to treat their wives kindly, as Allah the Almighty said: {And live with them honorably}. This includes refraining from harm, offering good deeds, and treating them well. If the husband is harsh in his treatment, he is disobeying these directives. It is not permissible for a woman to seek divorce unless there is a legitimate Sharia reason. If she is clearly harmed by the treatment, she has the right to seek divorce. However, divorce may not be in her best interest; rather, patience, dialogue, and striving for reconciliation, seeking help from Allah, and then from those who can assist in reconciliation, might be better. Postponing childbirth is permissible for a specific, temporary reason, provided both spouses agree. Understanding and dialogue between spouses are essential to keep the family strong and cohesive.
