The answer

Adultery (Zina) and masturbation (Istimna') are major sins. Masturbation and the preliminaries to Zina are forbidden (). Whoever commits these sins must offer sincere repentance ( Nasuh) to Allah the Almighty. There is no validity to the statement that one who commits these acts becomes impure for forty days and none of their deeds are accepted. Rather, if they repent sincerely, Allah will accept their repentance and their deeds. If they do not repent, their prayers, fasting, and all other deeds are still valid, thereby fulfilling their obligations. However, their acceptance by Allah is conditional upon piety (), and they may not be accepted due to persistence in disobedience.
