Is it true that a man's rising at night and waking his wife for the night vigil prayer (Qiyam al-Layl) are actions that make the Lord of the Worlds laugh, and that if Allah laughs at a servant, He will not hold him accountable? And is it permissible for a man to lead his wife in Qiyam al-Layl daily?

Among the deeds for which Allah laughs is the standing in night prayer (Qiyam (definition) al-Layl). It has been reported that whoever Allah laughs at in this world will not be brought to account. It is also permissible for a man to pray in congregation with his wife, based on the hadith (definition): "If a man awakens his wife at night and they both pray two rak'ahs together, they will be recorded among those men and women who remember Allah much." However, this should not be done continuously, as the general rule is that supererogatory prayers are not legislated to be performed regularly in congregation outside of Ramadan (definition).
