If a woman begins her menses after the time for prayer has begun, does she have to make up the prayer for the duration of her menstruation?
If a woman menstruates after the time for prayer has begun, she must make up that prayer after she becomes pure, due to the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a book [to be observed at] fixed times." She is not required to make up prayers missed during menstruation, by consensus, due to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Is it not true that when she menstruates, she neither prays nor fasts?" If she becomes pure and there remains enough time for one rak'ah or more, she must perform that prayer, due to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Whoever catches a rak'ah of Fajr prayer before the sun rises has caught Fajr, and whoever catches a rak'ah of Asr prayer before the sun sets has caught Asr."
