Is the answered supplication after the prescribed prayers to be made after finishing the prayer or after the Tashahhud and before the Tasleem?
The phrase "supplication following the prescribed prayers" (Du'a dubur al- al-maktubat) means supplication after them. The command to remember Allah () "following every prayer" refers to doing so after the salutations of peace (), by consensus. Al-Tirmidhi narrated from Abu Umamah: It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which supplication is most heard?" He replied, "In the last part of the night, and following the prescribed prayers." Al-Tabari narrated from Ja'far al-Sadiq that supplication after a prescribed prayer is superior to supplication after a supererogatory prayer, just as the prescribed prayer is superior to the supererogatory one.
