The answer

Reading the Qur’an in the bathroom is not permissible, out of reverence for the word of Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked mentioning Allah except in a state of purity. Some scholars are of the opinion that reading the Qur’an in the bathroom is forbidden. This is the view of the Hanbalis and one opinion among the Malikis, due to its contradiction with the veneration of Allah and His word. However, if one recites something from the Qur’an unintentionally, there is no sin upon him, but one should accustom oneself to silence in this place.
