Is gathering to read the Qur'an and exchange thoughts about its verses considered an innovation (bid'ah)?

Gathering to recite and ponder the Qur’an is among the best of deeds. Its recitation and study are a cause for the descent of tranquility and mercy, the surrounding by angels, and Allah’s mention of the reciter in the High Assembly. Pondering the Qur’an is a religious requirement due to the admonitions and guidance it contains. However, it is not permissible to interpret the Qur’an based on mere opinion or without knowledge. Whoever speaks about the Qur’an without knowledge has erred and sinned, even if their interpretation happens to align with the truth, due to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever speaks about the Qur’an without knowledge, let him prepare his seat in the Hellfire." Rather, one must seek assistance from accredited interpretations such as Tafsir (definition) al-Sa'di or al-Jazairi.
