What is the ruling on reciting a verse in congregation for memorization, and is it considered an innovation (bidʻah)?

Working in teaching, learning, memorizing, and perfecting the recitation of the Qur’an is among the best and most rewarding deeds, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No group of people gathers in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, angels surround them, and Allah mentions them among those with Him." This indicates the desirability of gathering in the houses of Allah to recite the Qur’an, just as the righteous predecessors would not move past a verse until they learned all its rulings and acted upon them. Group recitation of the Qur’an is considered good by most scholars.
