How can there be healing with silver when it is inanimate, and would that be by wearing it? And what is meant by the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying, “But you must use silver and play with it freely”?

"Treating with silver" was mentioned in Ibn al-Qayyim's "Zad al-Ma'ad." As for the aforementioned Hadith (definition), scholars have differed in its interpretation; some considered it evidence for the permissibility of men wearing silver, while others held a different view. What is apparent — as mentioned by Al-Shanqeeti — is that the intent behind "playing with silver" refers to women adorning themselves with it. That is, the Prophet, peace be upon him, permitted women to adorn themselves with silver after he had forbidden men from adorning their women with gold, then the prohibition of gold for women was abrogated.
