The question

What is the "mustaqarr" (final destination/fixed place) of the sun, and does it cease its motion, according to the verse "And the sun runs to its mustaqarr" and the prophetic hadiths that mention its prostration beneath the Throne, taking into account the scientific facts that indicate its continuous motion?

The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, explained the sun's resting place as its prostration beneath the Throne. This prostration is befitting for it, and only Allah knows its exact nature. When it reaches the Throne, it prostrates, then it is permitted to continue. At the end of time, it will be told to return, and it will rise from its west. Prostration is an unseen matter, and its nature is known only to Allah. The of Abu Dharr does not contradict the cosmic verses of prostration, and it does not imply that the sun stops moving or that it disappears from sight.
