What is the ruling on placing the best produce at the top of the boxes and the lower quality at the bottom, with the buyer's knowledge and consent?

What the farmer does by placing the good quality produce at the top of the box and the lesser quality at the bottom is a type of forbidden deception, especially if the buyer believes that the entire box is of good quality. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade deception, as in the hadith (definition) narrated by Abu Hurairah: "Whoever deceives is not from me." If the merchant who buys from you knows this, then this removes the element of deception only in his case. However, the merchant may then sell these boxes to other merchants or to consumers and deceive them in the same manner, and it is not permissible to aid in that. All types of fruits, large and small, should be placed at the top of the box. If the buyers know that only the top layer is of good quality, then there is no deception in that case. However, this remains a bad practice because it accustoms people to falseness and trickery, and someone who is unaware might buy and be deceived.
