If a woman sees blood at the beginning of Ramadan (definition), after fifteen days or more have passed since her last period of purity, then this blood is considered menses if it continues for a day and a night, according to the majority of scholars. She is then obligated to make up those days. If she sees yellowish or brownish discharge connected to the blood, it is considered menses if the total duration of the blood and the connected discharge reaches a day and a night. If she sees yellowish or brownish discharge not connected to the blood, but it occurs within her customary period, it is also considered menses.
