Is it permissible for workers who perform physically arduous tasks, especially during the summer months, such as those who work in front of metal smelting furnaces, to break their fast in Ramadan?

Fasting Ramadan (definition) is obligatory for every accountable individual, and one must balance their religious duties with their worldly life. If fasting conflicts with strenuous work that prevents one from fasting, they can make the night a time for work, or take a leave of absence, or seek another job where they can combine both obligations. If they cannot find suitable employment, they must emigrate to a land where they can fulfill both their religious and worldly duties. If forced into strenuous work, they must fast until they feel hardship, then eat and drink what satisfies their need, then abstain and make up for the days they missed at a later time.
