The answer

Common intermingling (ikhtilat) is among the major sins, and it is impermissible to work in mixed environments. Whoever works in them must leave them. However, if circumstances become difficult for someone, and they cannot find an alternative, and they are in need, and they intend to leave when an alternative becomes available, then there is no blame upon them, provided they adhere to guidelines such as lowering the gaze and avoiding seclusion with women. Informing a person about the impermissibility of working in mixed environments is not speaking without knowledge. As for the saying, "So fear Allah as much as you are able," it is true, but it should not be uttered indiscriminately. The determination of ability and necessity in this regard refers back to the people of knowledge. It is obligatory to refer back to the people of knowledge concerning this, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "So ask the people of the message if you do not know."
