Is it obligatory to divorce the uneducated wife who is always disobedient and does not raise children well, or should one be patient with her? And what is the solution to the problem of raising children in this situation?
Marriage is a solemn covenant, and Allah has made it obligatory to fulfill its requirements. If a marital life experiences disruption, Allah has provided solutions to mend it. To resolve marital problems, one should:
1. Dedicate time to raising children and instilling in them good morals and manners, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire." 2. Teach the wife the best way to raise children and preserve their faith, by utilizing books that adopt the Islamic methodology. 3. Be patient with the wife and treat her kindly, for the solution is not in divorce but in forgiveness and tolerance, as stated in the Hadith: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another." Every human being possesses both good and bad qualities, and whoever's good outweighs their bad should be accepted.
