Will I find my thoughts in my scroll on the Day of Resurrection, or remember them in the grave, or between the two trumpet blasts, and will I be held accountable for them?

One should not be preoccupied with thoughts and whispers (waswas) for which a person will not be held accountable. Scholars have inferred that angels record the deeds of the hearts, as Allah and His angels know what the soul whispers, encompassing both good and bad, and similarly, Satan knows what the soul desires. Angels record both apparent and hidden deeds, such as envy, malice, and hypocrisy. Allah informs them of the deeds of the hearts for which a person is rewarded or punished.

There is a difference between established deeds of the heart, for which a person is held accountable, and mere fleeting whispers and thoughts which Allah has pardoned, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Indeed, Allah has forgiven my Ummah for what they whisper to themselves, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it." So, established deeds of the heart like hypocrisy, ostentation, and arrogance are held against one, just as love for Allah and hatred for Allah are rewarded. As for the phrase "You are provided according to your intentions," it is not from the words of Allah nor His Prophet, peace be upon him.
