Is eating in the bathroom forbidden?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Toilets are designated for relieving oneself, and a Muslim should not enter them except for that purpose. If one does enter, they should refrain from eating and drinking until they exit. Deliberately eating and drinking in them without need or necessity goes against sound human nature (fitra). Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned that the toilet is a place solely for relieving oneself, and one should not stay in it longer than necessary, because engaging in eating there entails prolonged stay.
