Is contributing to an endowment (waqf) or giving charity via mobile text messages, by deducting the amount from the bill, considered ongoing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah)? Is it better to choose a charity within the boundaries of the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Ḥarām) to multiply the reward? Can the intention of reward be made for one's parents and family, or only for each sender?

Donating to an endowment (waqf) is considered an ongoing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah) because its principal is held in perpetuity, and its usufruct is given in charity. This differs from other charitable acts whose principal does not endure, such as feeding the poor. The reward for charity in the Haram (Makkah) is greater than outside it, so choosing a charitable organization within the Haram of Makkah is better for multiplying the reward. The intention to include parents and family in the reward of the charity, or to dedicate a message to each of them, is permissible.
