What is the ruling on the mawlids held for the aforementioned figures (Ibrahim El-Desouki, Al-Sayyid Al-Badawi, Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas, Al-Hussein, Sayyida Zaynab, Sayyida Nafisa), which people attend from everywhere, and where feasts, late-night gatherings, religious chanting, and seeking blessings from the awliya' take place, considering them an annual custom?

What occurs at the graves of saints—seeking from them, supplicating them, and appealing to them for help—are acts of shirk (polytheism) and bid'ah (innovation) that would not be approved by anyone knowledgeable in the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him. The ruling on building graves in mosques and the ruling on praying in them have been explained in previous fatwas. As for the claim that the simple-minded and the insane have a special relationship with God and that they are among the saints, this contradicts the principles of Sharia, because God has exempted them from accountability.
