First, the heirs must be identified to determine how the inheritance is to be divided. If the heirs are a mother, a wife, a full sister, and a paternal brother, the division is as follows:

The Mother: One-sixth (2/12) due to the presence of multiple siblings, based on the Almighty's saying: "But if he has brothers, then for his mother is one-sixth." The Wife: One-fourth (3/12) due to the absence of a lineal descendant, based on the Almighty's saying: "And for them is one-fourth of what you leave if you have no child." The Full Sister: One-half (6/12) based on the Almighty's saying in the verse of Kalalah: "They ask you for a ruling. Say, 'Allah gives you a ruling concerning Kalalah: If a man dies, leaving no child but has a sister, she will have half of what he leaves.'" The Paternal Brother: The remainder by residuary inheritance (1/12), based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and whatever remains is for the closest male relative."

The inheritance is divided into 12 shares. The shares in acres will be as follows: The mother 200 acres, the wife 300 acres, the full sister 600 acres, the paternal brother 100 acres.
