Is it permissible for a woman whose husband has passed away to remove hair from her arms and legs?

A woman observing her 'iddah (waiting period) after the death of her husband is not permitted to remove hair from her arms and legs, as this constitutes adornment. She is forbidden from all forms of adornment, and this includes hair removal which entails beautification. Similarly, scholars have prohibited her from applying nūrah (a depilatory substance) to her body, due to its effect of removing body hair.
