What is the ruling on a woman trimming her hair, and is it true that growing it long will be a covering for her on the Day of Resurrection?

It is forbidden for a woman to cut her hair if it is for the purpose of beautifying herself for non-mahram men, or imitating disbelievers or immoral women, or imitating men, or if it is cut by a non-mahram man, or if it is done without the husband's permission. However, if the intention is adornment for the husband or to lighten the burden of caring for long hair, then it is permissible, as there is no evidence for its prohibition. Rather, there are indications of its permissibility, such as the hadith of the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who would take from their hair until it was like a copious amount. The saying that a woman's hair is a covering for her on the Day of Judgment has not been established in the Sunnah or in the sayings of scholars.
