What is the ruling on a woman cutting her hair for her husband as a form of beautification?
The length of a woman's hair is an adornment, and Islam has legislated taking from it the length of a fingertip to exit the state of ihram for Hajj and Umrah. It is forbidden for her to shorten it in imitation of disbelievers or men, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them," and "Allah has cursed women who imitate men." Some scholars disliked it except out of necessity, such as excessively long hair. If a woman does it for her husband's adornment and not in imitation of Western women or others, there is no harm. However, it is better to avoid it for fear of inclining towards them, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not incline to those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you."
