What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning the harsh treatment of parents and their disavowal of their daughter, despite her service to them, and their leveling of false accusations against her, and what should the daughter do in such a situation?
The advice for resolving family problems, especially with parents, is summarized by focusing on the children's role in bringing about change, based on the Almighty's sayings: (And whatever calamity strikes you, it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much) and (Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves).
Therefore, one must: 1. Identify areas of fault in one's conduct and work to change them, such as controlling emotional outbursts and anger, and suppressing rage, for suppressing it carries a greater reward with Allah. 2. Win the hearts of parents with gifts and money, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (Exchange gifts, and you will love one another), and try to appease the mother with affection, humility, and forgiveness. 3. Repel [evil] with what is better, as the Almighty said: (And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] with that which is better). 4. Be patient and endure any harm from them, for the believer is bridled, and the forbearing is not one who does not associate kindly with one from whom there is no escape in association.
If these methods are not effective, reduce your visits or temporarily cease them if they cause harm, and move to another place if that is better, bearing in mind that the husband has a greater right than the parents if honoring them results in harm to your family.
