What is the meaning of the noble verse: (And never will you reach the mountains in height)? Does it contradict man's ability to reach mountain peaks? And does knowing the sex of the fetus in the womb contradict the noble verse? And what is the sea intended in His (the Almighty's) saying: (And He placed a barrier between the two seas)?

The interpretation of Allah's saying: ﴿And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will not tear the earth [apart], nor will you ever reach the mountains in height.﴾ [Al-Isra/37], meaning: You will not reach the mountains in height and grandeur, O arrogant one. You are not able to tear the earth apart with the force of your tread, nor to equal the mountains in your height.

As for Allah’s saying: ﴿And He knows what is in the wombs,﴾ [Luqman/34], this refers to the complete knowledge of the fetus before its creation in terms of its lifespan, deeds, sustenance, and whether it will be wretched or blissful, and its gender. However, knowing the gender of the fetus after its creation is not part of the absolute unseen and can be known through modern means.

As for Allah’s saying: ﴿Is not He [better than your gods] who made the earth a stable abode and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier?﴾ [An-Naml/61], this has been explained previously.
