Is it permissible to sit with and wear tight clothing in front of relatives, for one who believes that tight clothing is not permissible?

The question is general, but the common rule is that matters of ijtihad (independent reasoning) that do not contradict a clear text or an obvious analogy are not to be condemned in those who differ. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that the statement "there is no condemnation in matters of dispute" is not correct. Rather, condemnation is directed towards a statement or action that contradicts the Sunnah or scholarly consensus (Ijma'). As for matters in which there is no text or consensus and there is room for ijtihad, the one who acts upon them is not to be condemned.
