His notion that happiness is achieved by following desires is wrong; rather, obedience to Allah and drawing near to Him are the greatest causes of happiness in this world and the Hereafter, and it is what expands the chests and tranquilizes the hearts. This man is depriving his children of the greatest causes of their happiness by steadfastness upon the law of Allah. Lifespans are concealed, and no one knows when their appointed time will come, so who can guarantee for a young person that he will grow up, become righteous, and repent after sinning? Procrastination and delaying repentance harm a person, for the older one gets, the weaker their strength and resolve become. This statement is false and reprehensible, and he should be advised and reminded of these meanings and called to repentance.
