Will a person be punished if his intention in marriage—to preserve his chastity and form a family—becomes mixed with a worldly intention, such as obtaining government housing through his wife's employment?

There is no objection to marrying a woman for the purpose mentioned (money), due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religion. So, choose the one who is religious, and you will prosper." However, it is preferable and better to choose a religious woman, because worldly matters are fleeting, while religion endures. Al-Mawardi believes that a marriage contract solely for money might dissolve if it is not accompanied by other reasons for affection. Therefore, there is no punishment in such a marriage, even though prioritizing religion is more worthy.
