Is a person considered sinful if they return an offense "twofold" with the aim of teaching the aggressor a lesson and preventing them from escalating, knowing that they first exercise patience and warn the aggressor, and do not remain silent about their right or accept being oppressed?

Allah commanded justice and grace and forbade injustice. The recompense for an evil deed is its equivalent, but forgiveness and reconciliation are better. The reward of the benevolent is with Allah, whereas the unjust who transgress the bounds are not loved by Allah. Injustice includes initiating aggression or exaggerating in response. Transgression (al-baghy) is aggression in dealings, whether without cause or by exceeding the limit in punishment. Forgiveness is safer and better, and it only increases a servant in honor. However, if a response to wrongdoing is unavoidable, then one must adhere to justice without transgression.
