What is the way to overcome lust and inner turmoil, and to restore faith after straying from it, especially given a history of abuse and a long period of abstaining from religious practices, bearing in mind that marriage was not the hoped-for solution?
Seeking refuge in Allah is not limited to supplication; rather, it encompasses fulfilling all His commands. This is one of the reasons for the acceptance of supplication, as Allah Almighty said: "And He answers those who believe and do righteous deeds, and increases them from His bounty." Negligence in acts of obedience leads to the dominance of sins, as Allah Almighty said: "And whoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Merciful, We appoint for him a devil, who is to him a companion." One must strive to perform both outward and inward obligations, such as prayer, zakat, and fasting, and to fear Allah and rely upon Him. By doing so, Allah averts tribulation. Increasing the remembrance of Allah and prayer protects a person from immoralities, as Allah Almighty said: "Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater."
