Does the penalty mentioned in the verse: "Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and in the Hereafter is a great punishment" apply to financial corruption?

When the conditions for hirabah (unlawful warfare/banditry) are met, its perpetrator deserves this punishment. Among its conditions are that the individual possesses a weapon and carries out their actions openly, even if the purpose is to seize people's money and belongings without killing them. Financial corruption, such as bribery, embezzlement, theft, or nepotism, does not fall under the Hadd (prescribed punishment) of hirabah.
