How can one respond to questions regarding: (1) Allah Almighty's saying, "And to the earth, how it is spread out (suṭiḥat)," and the implication of the earth being flattened; (2) Allah being described as the Most Merciful despite the severe punishment for disbelievers; (3) The journey of Al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj to Al-Aqsa Mosque at a time when it was not yet built; and what is the method for quickly memorizing the Qur’an to get rid of these intrusive thoughts?

One must avoid areas of doubt and not dwell on them, for the heart may absorb them. Doubts do not harm faith as long as they are disliked, and a Muslim must strive against them, for which he will be rewarded.

Regarding the doubts raised:

1. The Flattening of the Earth: The mention of the Earth being flattened and spread out does not contradict its sphericity. It appears flat to observers, but it is fundamentally a sphere, as scholars have affirmed. 2. Mercy and Punishment: Describing God as the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful does not negate His description as severe in punishment, for His mercy preceded His wrath. He punishes disbelievers eternally in Hell for their intention to persist in disbelief, and this is justice. 3. Al-Aqsa Mosque: What this insane liar mentioned about the non-existence of Al-Aqsa Mosque is refuted; it still stands. There are narrations from the statements of the priests themselves that indicate the authenticity of the story of Al-Isra’ and Al-Mi’raj (the Night Journey and Ascension). If what he claimed were true, it would have been hidden from the people of Makkah who disbelieved the Prophet (peace be upon him).
