Is the agreement in sharecropping—where the proportion of the output is one-fourth—that the tenant takes one-fourth net, or are transportation fees, loading worker wages, and other expenses deducted from it?

Muzara'ah (sharecropping) is permissible according to the majority of scholars. It means that land is given to someone to cultivate and work on, and the produce is shared between them. They supported this by what Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Ibn 'Umar, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made an agreement with the people of Khaybar for half of what the land produced. As for the cost of transporting the produce and any related expenses, it is borne by the one who requested that service. If both of them needed it, then the expense is upon them both according to each one's share.
