What is the meaning of the noble verse, "Indeed, the frailest of houses is the house of the spider," taking into consideration that a spider's web is stronger than a steel thread of the same thickness?

Allah Almighty likens those who take gods besides Him to the spider that builds a house. This house is weak and fragile, both physically and morally. The spider itself is deluded by its flimsy house that offers no protection, and similarly, the polytheists are deluded by their gods that avail them nothing.

The spider's house is the flimsiest of houses, even if its threads are strong, for its weakness lies in its collective form. There are studies that indicate the weakness of relationships within the spider's house; the female preys on the male after mating and eats her young, and the young eat each other.

It is not permissible to go beyond the examples given in the Qur'an, for Allah Almighty's statement, "And indeed, the flimsiest of houses is the spider's house," clarifies the weakness of this house from six perspectives.
