What did the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, say about Hatim al-Ta'i?

It is mentioned in the hadiths concerning Hatim al-Ta'i that his father maintained kinship ties and performed good deeds. 'Adi ibn Hatim asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about his reward. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "Indeed, your father sought something and attained it," or "He desired a matter and achieved it," or "He loved to be remembered," indicating that his intention behind those deeds was to be remembered in this world. Ibn Kathir affirmed that the benefit of these deeds in the Hereafter is conditional upon faith.
