Does a Muslim remain among the people of Paradise and a Muslim, or is he considered an apostate and to be killed, if – due to his anger at the teachings of religion that forbid him from adultery – he imagines that he is having sexual intercourse with God – exalted be He above that – despite his knowledge of the vileness of this thought and his fear that it might be disbelief?

Whispers [Waswasah] and self-talk are forgiven by Allah, so long as a person does not act upon them or speak them; because one has no control over their occurrence. For whoever finds this within themselves and considers it to be a grave matter, this is a sign of pure faith. It is incumbent upon the Muslim to strive to repel these whispers from themselves with that which benefits them.
