What is the ruling on words of pagan origin, such as "lucky," which is of Greek origin and means "god," even though this meaning has disappeared?

Many words have several meanings, but a single origin. The existence of some false meanings does not preclude their use for correct meanings. As for the word in question, even if its origin is derived from the name of a deity, the sin falls upon those who borrowed this name for a false meaning, not upon those who used it after its widespread acceptance and establishment in the language.
