What is Barzakh, and what are the types of punishments for sins?

Al-Barzakh is the period between a person's death and their resurrection on the Day of Judgment. During this time, the obedient are blessed, and the disobedient are punished. It is mentioned in a noble Hadith that the punishment of Al-Barzakh befalls those who abandon the Quran and the prescribed prayers, the liars, the fornicators, and those who consume usury. This punishment is proportionate to the sin committed.
